In this task you will be performing the following competencies:-

You have just commenced working as an Administration Assistant at the Head Office of Hardware Haven. Hardware Haven stores are located throughout NSW and they supply timber, hardware supplies, nursery supplies and outdoor furniture.

As part of your duties, you are required to use word processing software to produce the business documents required by the company.

 You can send work to your teacher either via email or post.

Part A Produce a Letterhead

Instructions:

Julie Green, the Office Manager, has asked you to create a new letterhead for the business.

Part B Produce Simple Business Documents

Instructions:

Brian Green, the Sales Manager, has asked you to key in a memo and a table.

Go to Support for

  • paragraphs

  • inserting tables

  • inserting clipart

  • Print hhmemo shown

  • Using the hard copy, proofread the handwritten version from Brian Green using the standard proofreading symbols (notations) in the margin and the text.

  • Hardware House should always be in italics.

  • Send this proofread memo to your teacher by post.

 

  • Open a new Word document

  • Save the file as hh_memo1

  • Create the proofread version of the memo

  • Proofread this document carefully.

  • Insert a footer: left-margin, insert filename Task 7B & your name

  • Save your changes

  • Print a copy

  • Send the copy to your teacher

  • Create the hh_table shown

  • Make sure the page is displayed effectively- aligned in the centre, not too small.

  • Proofread carefully.

  • Print a copy.

  • Send the copy to your teacher.

Part C  -  Produce a letter

Go to Support for

Instructions:

 

  • Open your hh_lhead file (produced in Part A)

  • Save the opened file as hh_let1

  • Key in letter shown from Brian Green to Margaret Robertson

  • Save your changes

  • Print a copy

 

 

  • Edit the letter as shown

  • Insert a footer: left-margin, insert filename Task 7C & your name

  • Save the document as hh_let2

  • Print a copy

  • Send a copy to your teacher

Part D – Mailmerge

 

Go to Support for

  • mail merge

 

Instructions:

 

Standard Letter:

  • Open Word

  • Retrieve Hardware Haven’s letterhead (File => Open   hh_lhead)

  • Save the document as hh_let3

  • Create the letter as shown inserting merge fields where indicated (you may find it easier to print this off first)

  • Proofread carefully

  • Insert a footer: left-margin, insert filename Task 7D & your name

  • Save your changes

  • Using the variable data shown , merge and print a letter for each customer
