Time Frames
The hardest things to do when planning your day is:
estimating how long a task will take and
allowing for the unexpected
What is Time Management?
Time Management is the process of managing the tasks on your daily 'To Do List' in the time available.
If you can manage your time, you will be better organised and less stressed.
In Trouble
Imagine you have planned your day in the office. It will be busy so it is important you keep as close to your daily plan as possible.
However, the day is not going as planned ............
the photocopier has broken down
your employer wants an urgent report typed by tomorrow
your colleague has gone home sick and you have to cover for her.
By 4.00pm you realise you will not complete all your tasks including the report. You have an appointment at 5.15pm that cannot be postponed. You know you cannot stay back to complete the most urgent task
What are you going to do?
Delegation
Delegation can reduce unnecessary stress. It involves dividing tasks into smaller parts and allocating these tasks to other staff members.
In Task 9 you may have asked some other staff member to type the report or take on the duties of the colleague who went home. This is called delegation
